IPSAS is currently accepting applications for the 2024 Doctoral Candidates in the Humanities and Social Science Fellowship Program

Eligibility, subsidy duration, and application procedures can be found in the Guidelines for the Academia Sinica Fellowships for Doctoral Candidates in the Humanities and Social Science – PDF (Open a URL in a new tab)、 Guidelines for the Academia Sinica Fellowships for Doctoral Candidates in the Humanities and Social Science – ODT (Open a URL in a new tab)and the Review Procedures for the IPS Doctoral Candidate Cultivation Program.

Applicants are required to contact a full-time researcher from IPS in advance, obtain their agreement to serve as the “Advisor” during the award period, and have the advisor’s signature on the application form before submission.

The fellowship period is from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, and successful candidates must complete registration procedures no later than September 1, 2024.

During the fellowship period, doctoral candidates must dedicate more than half of their time (at least 3 days per week) to research activities at IPS, with the assistance of their Advisor in the preparation of their doctoral thesis.

During the fellowship period, the Fellows are not allowed to concurrently receive the following scholarships or work-related remunerations:

(1)Scholarships offered by the National Science and Technology Council to support doctoral candidates in the humanities and social sciences for dissertation writing.

(2)Long-term scholarships offered by the Fellows’ institutions, other government agencies, academic foundations, or similar organizations.

Interested applicants are required to prepare the following documents:

(1) Application form (format attached, please submit after obtaining the “Advisor’s” signature)
(2) Transcript of doctoral program grades
(3) Research proposal
(4) Relevant publications
(5) Academic and professional background information
(6) Proof of qualification as a doctoral candidate (All six documents should be emailed to ahui@gate.sinica.edu.tw)
(7) Two recommendation letters from professors at the applicant’s affiliated school (Recommendation letters should be emailed directly to ahui@gate.sinica.edu.tw).
