Time : July 16 to August 1, 2014

This year we are pleased to announce that the Professor Bill Jacoby of Michigan State and Professor Teppei Yamamoto of MIT will join us. The key themes for the 2014 IPM will be causal inference. In addition, a number of basic courses are also offered each year, including regression, categorical data analysis, and introductions to Stata and R. Moreover, the annual curriculum includes several survey courses associated with off-year themes. Daily schedules at the IPM consist of lectures and lab sessions. Further information about IPM can be found at www.ipmasia.org(Open a URL in a new tab).

The 2014 IPM is scheduled between July 16 and August 1, 2014 and will be conducted over two consecutive sessions. The first session will be held between July 16 and 25, while the second session will be held between July 28 and August 1. Classes of the first session will be conducted in English and classes of the second session will be taught in Mandarin. International participants who complete the first session will receive a certificate. The number of participants will be limited to 20. International participants are responsible for their own airfare and the IPM will provide local lodgings. The registration date will begin April 1 and end May 2. All registration can be completed on line. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us at IPMasia.service@gmail.com. Join us!

The IPM course includes three parts: basic statistical courses, theme courses, and game theory, with the first two as the main parts. Students are expected to participate in all courses. The total class hours are 78 (13 days), including lectures, labs, and student presentation. The main theme of this year is causal inference which includes the following topics:
1. Randomized Experiments
2. Subclassification and Matching
3. Propensity Score Matching
4. Synthetic Control Method
5. Instrumental Variables
6. Regression Discontinuity Designs
7. Panel and Time-series and Cross-Sectional
8. Difference-in-difference

In addition to the theme course, a number of basic courses are also offered. They include regression, categorical data analysis, game theory, and introductions to Stata and R. Besides, in 2014 IPM will also include several survey courses associated with off-year themes.
