Date : 2010-06-05 ~ 2010-06-05
Time : 8:00am~6:20pm
Since the third wave of democratization swept the world, semi-presidentialism has been adopted by more than one quarter of all the countries on earth, including the Republic of China. The study of semi-presidentialism is on a steady rise internationally in the field of comparative political institutions. It also attracts an increasing number of researchers in the local academic community as the study has great academic and practical significance in Taiwan. This conference is the first of its kind held in Taiwan by and for the local academic community (although two international conferences have been held previously in Academia Sinica), co-organized by the Department of Political Science, National Taiwan University, and the Institute of Political Science, Academia Sinica. We expect to further raise interest in semi-presidentialism, deepen research effort, promote academic dialogue, and provide theoretical basis for Taiwan’s constitutional development. We welcome the participation of anyone who is interested in semi-presidentialism, constitutional development, comparative political institutions, and democratic consolidation in Taiwan.
