IPSAS will hold The International Conference on “”Below the Storm: 60 Years of Cross-Strait Connections” jointly with Institute of East Asian Studies at University of California, Berkeley, on February 5-6, 2010 in Academia Sinica. The Conference will invite leading scholars in social sciences and humanities from the United States, Taiwan, and mainland China to explore the dynamic changes in cross-Strait relations. We will be discussing various aspects of cross-Strait relations, including patterns from history, political dimension, religion and governance, youth and gender, transnational marriage and family dynamics, role of the media, and maritime and environmental issues. This conference marks the first interdisciplinary dialogue between scholars from Taiwan and the United States, and constitutes a milestone in the academic collaboration between the IPSAS and UC Berkeley. It will take a leading role in setting the agenda for the study of cross-Strait relations.
